About Me
Hi! I’m Louise, I am a wordsmith, which is just an obnoxious way of saying that I love the written word.
As an author myself, I recognise that you have worked tirelessly on your piece of writing whether it be a manuscript, journal, or academic project. I know the kind of graft it takes to put words coherently together with enough flair to captivate your audience from the first sentence.
My love for reading started when I was a frequent patient in the hospital for kidney illness. To while away the time, stuck in bed I read every book I could get my hands on. I am still a voracious reader and a wizz at crossword puzzles and Scrabble. I discovered my love for writing at a very young age when I began to journal my childish thoughts in the diaries gifted to me each year for Christmas by my mom. I have since published 15 books in the children’s genre. I have a Diploma qualification in Communications and Public Relations, and I am pursuing further literature studies through the Writers College of South Africa and UCT.
MY CORE VALUES
Editing your manuscript is a collaborative process. Staying in touch and communicating throughout the project is vital to a brilliant result.
I will be honest with you every step of the way. Honest and helpful feedback is key both ways.
I strongly believe in being kind and encouraging. I highlight your strengths and cheer you on to your final goal. It is a great honour for me to be a cog in the wheel of your project.
I respect agreed-upon timelines and I am consistent or even early on delivering high-quality work as described in the service agreement.
All my edits are visible on the Track Changes and Comments tool on your document. I will always ask you before I suggest any major changes and will not do so without your express permission. I will never impose my styling preferences without consulting you first.
MY PHILOSOPHY
- Authors and manuscripts are treated with the utmost respect.
- I never change the author’s voice or message.
- Author-editor collaboration and partnership are vital.
- Your deadline is my priority.
- No, I am not what is unkindly referred to as a grammar nazi but I am the meticulous tweaker of your manuscripts, and my feedback is always positive and intended to teach and inspire.
